LIANZA has more than 1,000 individual members and over 200 institutional members.
Over the years, LIANZA has been involved with the creation of the Country Library Service, was a driving force in the National Library Service and the establishment of the LIANZA Children’s Book Awards, and supported establishment of library certificates, diplomas and degrees.
More recently, LIANZA has been involved in representing the industry with Government, particularly providing submissions on the Equal Pay Amendment Bill, Copyright Act and Reform of Vocational Education, and providing feedback to the Education Conversation and National Archival and Library Institutions Ministerial Group. We have represented our people at the Digital Skills Hui and Digital Economy and Digital Inclusion workshops, and were responsible for the successful bid to host the IFLA World Library and Information Congress.
With your LIANZA membership, over the years we have been able to see the development and delivery of the Kōtuku Emerging Leaders programme, the implementation of professional registration, accreditation of LIS qualifications for educational providers, remuneration surveys for the library and information profession, the establishment of a bi-cultural partnership with Te Rōpū Whakahau, information policy summits; and more.
