Young Person’s Digital Engagement Specialist (Library)

The New Zealand Libraries Partnership Programme is enabling Porirua Libraries to seek a Young Person’s Digital Engagement Specialist for a fixed-term, full-time position ending on 30 June 2022.

This position will play a key role in supporting our communities ensuring Porirua youth stay connected to their local libraries. Together with the highly motivated children’s and young adults’ team at City Centre library, you will conduct membership outreach to schools in the local community, with the goal of connecting all Porirua students to our physical and digital collections and a focus on training in the use of the latter. You will be tasked with the selection, curation and cataloguing of appropriate online resources to support digital inclusion of library patrons.

To be successful in this role you will have strong public or school library experience, the interest and keen knowledge of children and young adults’ literature and experience in devising and executing programming for young audiences. You will have an excellent customer service focus and a keen desire to work with and for children and young adults and their parents/caregivers/ teachers.

Library Outreach experience and/or a Library Qualification, a minimum Diploma in Information and Library Studies (Level five of the Bachelor of Applied Science) or equivalent would be advantageous.
