Would you like to help with IFLA?

We’re calling for expressions of interest from individuals interested in serving on the conference committee to deliver IFLA in 2020.    While we have not yet won our bid, we’re keen to have our event delivery lead team in place during the IFLA site visit to help us ensure that this is a success.

Who do we need?

Our dream lead team members will have the following skillset:

-          A wide network within the New Zealand library and information profession (with reach internationally)

-          Familiarity with IFLA / LIANZA governance models

-          Experience in advocacy / relationship building

-          Experience on a conference committee or similar working group

-          Ability to commit 1-2 hours per week until the site visit is confirmed

But don’t worry if you don’t meet all of those requirements we welcome applicants from anyone in the sector, and there will be a lot more roles available if we are successful in winning our bid.

How many people are we after?

We would like a lead team of 8-10 individuals to make up our IFLA lead team.  We’ve found this number works really well in relation to our own conferences, and allows us to cover the key portfolios.

However, due to the huge amount of people we’ve already had express interest we’re pretty sure we’re going to get more than eight to ten applications.  If you aren’t successful making the lead team don’t worry – we’ll be including all interested pacific based librarians in the wider working group to deliver the event.

What sort of commitment is involved?

This working group isn’t for the faint of heart – delivering IFLA (and even just getting ready for the site visit) is going to require a significant amount of work.  To prepare for the site visit will require on average 1-2 hours per week, although this may fluctuate.  In the six months immediately preceding IFLA the workload will increase significantly – and for the sake of continuity we’d like individuals who are able to commit to supporting this initiative until August 2020.

How do I apply?

That’s easy – send us a copy of your CV with a covering letter outlining what you feel you could bring to the bid, and why you would like to be involved.  These should be emailed to officeadmin@lianza.org.nz by 9am on October 20th, 2017.
