The Technical Services Librarian (Acquisitions and Cataloguing) role is a vital part of the team who will provide acquisitions, cataloguing, and collection maintenance services for the Whitireia and WelTec libraries.

Key Accountabilities | (Ngā takohanga matua) 

Coordinate and action acquisitions and cataloguing activities and processes.

  • Catalogue and process all materials and monitor the accuracy of bibliographic records to ensure all resources are discoverable and meet SMART libraries requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of acquisitions/cataloguing/serials modules in the Library Management System and work with the Digital Services Librarian to exploit and develop the system to provide more efficient workflows.
  • Manage journal subscriptions and collections (print and e-journals) for WelTec
  • Manage the inter library loans processes for WelTec
  • Support collection maintenance tasks


The primary location of this position will be at the Petone campus, located on Kensington Avenue in Petone, however the successful applicant may occasionally need to travel to other campuses (Porirua and Wellington CBD) as required to maintain/develop relationships and ensure consistent service.

This role is 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.


An undergraduate degree and a library qualification or equivalent.

The ideal candidate has strong relationship building skills, can work in a collaborative manner and can demonstrate excellent communication skills. Also, highly desirable is an ability to use your initiative and work proactively.
