About us

Christchurch City Libraries have a national and international reputation for their well-connected successful network of libraries that contribute to the City of Christchurch. Presently we have a vacancy within our Hornby Library team for a team leader.

The current Hornby Library is part of a community hub that includes the Hornby Library, the customer service desk and the Hornby Community Centre. Planning is currently underway to build a brand new facility in Hornby that will include a library, a service desk, a leisure centre and meeting rooms. The new facility at Kyle Park has a predicted opening date of late 2022. The team leader role has key responsibly for the library and the library team, and currently serves a diverse range of customers Monday through to Saturday. The Library team has strong working relationships with other groups in the facility especially the Community Trust and the customer service desk.

Your impact

You will be key in leading and contributing to projects for the new facility and working alongside other key Council staff. One of your roles will include recruitment of a larger library team and input into many of the library planning processes including programmes to offer in the new facility and connection with the community.

What will make you successful

We require a highly motivated customer-focused professional who is passionate about delivering excellent services to the community and who has several years’ experience of leading teams. We are looking for a visionary focused leader who can work collaboratively across teams and who is committed to supporting Treaty of Waitangi obligations.

Apply now if you hold a Level 7 library qualification with several years’ relevant experience, or a Level 6 qualification with a strong number of years’ experience.

Ready to help make our community awesome? It’s time to join the team.
