Team Leader Libraries

Innovate and lead our support services
 
Nelson Public Libraries are dynamic environments, focused on the future. Our customers deserve a high standard of service delivery and a positive library experience. We are seeking a Team Leader Support Services with energy, vision and a flair for innovation, to contribute to the strategic direction of services across our libraries network.
 
This professional library position is part of the Libraries’ management team. You will work collaboratively to build on the great achievements already in place, but with a mandate to open the doors to new opportunities as you innovate, develop and lead our support services into the future.
 
Managing the libraries’ collection strategy, you will play a key role in the evaluation, acquisition and de-selection of library resources. With a passion for the future of libraries, you will oversee the development of our libraries’ IT environment, through the provision of strategic direction and operational support.
 
You will lead a team that delivers services including digital technology, collection development, acquisitions, materials processing and mending, inter-loans, and building maintenance. Your focus on community engagement will ensure you build strong relationships and proactively develop innovative services and resources that are adaptive to an evolving library environment.
 
Your strong technical ability will be utilised to develop and manage online / digital content and resources to enhance our online services. You will also provide front-line customer service delivery.
 
To be successful in this role, you need:
  • an understanding and appreciation of IT requirements and trends within the library environment
  • experience leading and inspiring a team in a changing environment
  • demonstrated experience engaging customers and a sound understanding of engagement processes
  • excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • sound technical ability to develop and manage digital Library services
  • to be available to work one weekend in four.
 
This is a full-time permanent position.
