Puke Ariki Library has recently become a part of the Cultural Experiences Group for Council which includes the Library, Museum and Govett Brewster and Len Lye Gallery.  Due to an internal promotion we are now looking for a Library Collections, Research and Digital Lead to contribute to the Library Leadership team and the strategic direction of the Library as a part of the Cultural Experiences Group.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the new direction that the library and our wider group will be taking over the next few years as we integrate services and work more collaboratively across our sector.  We will be building a new Library Strategy and focussing on delivering exceptional services to our customers.

We are looking for a strong people leader, with expertise in Library Collections and Research/Heritage work, plus digital skills to manage and advise in Library systems and future technology.

Tino takohanga   Key responsibilities    

  • Lead procurement for the physical and digital library collections ensuring adherence to budgets
  • Contribute to library strategic direction and planning
  • Deliver work to meet KPI standards
  • Manage the team to ensure performance and culture are exemplary
  • Lead the direction of the Taranaki Research Centre with the Principal Librarian
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Cultural Experience Group including the Curator Archives and Public Programs and Learning
  • Support the work of the Senior Te Ao Māori Librarian to ensure Mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori concepts are applied across our Libraries
  • Manage the digital direction for library services into the future

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako     Essential skills and experience

  • Five+ years’ experience leading a team in the Library and Information field, with a particular focus on collections and research/heritage work
  • Tertiary qualification in Library and Information Science or a relevant qualification
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team and creating a positive team culture
