Senior Library Services Officer

Wairoa district, the 'Outdoors Capital of Aotearoa', is home to Te Urewera and the legendary Lake Waikaremoana, as well as the magnificent Mahia Peninsula - famed for its beaches and surfing.

Due to some exciting internal changes, we have a Senior Library Services Officer position available in the Wairoa Centennial Library.

Join a team who have the daily delight of interacting with a diverse range of individuals, whilst facilitating the exciting journey that is the exploration of a good book and use of community internet services.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to library patrons
  • Book processing and circulation services
  • Collection management
  • Reading programmes and projects
  • IT services
  • Debt collection

The successful candidate will have:

  • Exceptional customer service skills, utilising your initiative and positive communication styles and techniques
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills and a steady head to operate in a busy, multi-tasking environment
  • Prior experience in a similar role, and will be familiar with databases, search tools and social media
  • The demonstrated ability to troubleshoot new technologies
  • Excellent reading skills, including the ability to confidently read aloud
