Principal Librarian: Children and Young Adult Services

HB Williams Memorial Library is seeking a motivated, creative and energetic professional to lead our services for young people. You will have a passion for encouraging a lifelong love of reading and learning.

You will possess a strong commitment to customer service and the bicultural needs of the district. You will be comfortable interacting with all sectors of our community, with high level communication skills and be adept at building rapport with whanau varying from babies through to teenagers.   

Proficiency in te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori is preferred.

You will provide dynamic delivery of a wide range of literacy programmes for young people and be willing to ‘dress-up’ at a moment’s notice.

Level 6 Diploma Information and Library Studies or equivalent is required. Formal experience and competency with working with young people is expected.

You will be a highly motivated team player who is well organised and is committed to providing excellent customer service and quality results.
