We’ve got a brand new position in our library team to increase awareness of library services, get more people through the doors, and ensure our libraries meet the needs of all the different groups in our community.
We’re looking for an innovative and community-minded person to work closely with our Library Team Leaders and Communications team to ensure Matamata-Piako Libraries are an active and integrated part of our district community. You will have skills in promoting and developing programmes, events and services, and building and maintaining relationships with community groups and educational partners. Te reo and tikanga skills would also be an advantage.
To be successful in this role you would ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification, previous customer-focused work experience and an understanding of modern library services. Empathy towards the needs of diverse communities and the ability to relate to people who have never used libraries before is a must. While library experience will assist you in the role, superb communication skills will be the key factor.
The role will also include general rostered library duties, and involves working in Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha Libraries.
The twenty hours per week includes one rostered Saturday per fortnight from 8.45am to 1.45pm. Flexibility outside library opening hours will also be required (as needed) to meet with community groups or lead library-related events.
