Libraries in Aotearoa 2014

Since 2013, LIANZA has been publishing Libraries in Aotearoa which outlines the state of the library and information management sector in New Zealand. If you're concerned about the future of libraries, Libraries in Aotearoa is a must-read!

The publication details current trends, challenges, and opportunities for the profession, as well as statistics and work undertaken by LIANZA and other key organisations in the sector.

In 2017, we decided to publish the collated information online, instead of creating a PDF version as we had done in previous years. This will make it much easier to update with latest statistics and information.

If you'd like to check out the new online version, you can do so here.

If you've got any suggestions for content we should include, or any feedback about the site in general, we'd love to hear from you. Feel free to get in contact with our Marketing and Communications Coordinator Julia, by sending an email to

LIANZA is able to produce this report with assistance from the following organisations:

The Association of Public Library Managers (APLM)

New Zealand Law Library Association (NZLLA)

The International Association of Music Libraries (IAMLNZ)

The School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (SLANZA)

Te Rōpū Whakahau

LIANZA Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
