Library Associations Overseas

Collaborating with library and information associations overseas  is one way LIANZA provides our members with additional networks and services.

LIANZA is the official representative of the International Federation of Library Representatives in New Zealand (IFLA).

LIANZA members are able to access IFLA member benefits such as discounted international conference rates.

As members of IFLA, LIANZA publicizes IFLA projects and we send our President to their annual conference when we can afford to!

We work closely with the Australian Library and Information Association. Joanna, our Executive Director, communicates with ALIA CEO Sue McKerracher on a regular basis to share projects, plans and concerns.

Both executives recently decided to further cement the relationship between the two organisations by creating the first joint conference since 1994.This conference will take place between July and September 2018 on the Gold Coast of Australia.

A further joint conference has been proposed for November 2021 in New Zealand.

LIANZA signed an MOU with VALA in early 2015, with the mutual goals of encouraging collaboration in the library and information sector, and supporting the professional development of library and information professionals.

CILIP and LIANZA agree reciprocity between each other's professional qualifications: RLIANZA and MCLIP.

If you're looking forward to an OE, this agreement will make it easier for you to work in the sector in the UK.

LIANZA is an afilliated member of the American Library Association (ALA).

This provides us with a few benefits such as complimentary registrations to the ALA annual and mid-winter meetings but the key benefit is the opportunity to interact with other associations through the ALA affiliates list.
