Library Team Leader – Te Aroha

Want to share your library skills in pastures new?  How about joining our awesome library team in the historic and picturesque Te Aroha?

At Matamata-Piako District Council Libraries we believe the way we do things really does make a difference in the lives of those who live in our district. We strive to provide an innovative, adaptable and integrated library service and our people are key in achieving this. We have a dynamic work environment with plenty of laughter and a friendly, welcoming and positive culture.

The role involves the management of the daily operations of the Library, and contributes to the ongoing development and delivery of our district wide library services and programmes.  You would work closely with the Matamata and Morrinsville Library Team Leaders, the Technical Services Librarian and the Community Engagement Librarian.

The successful applicant will have exceptional customer service skills, supervisory experience, and a thorough up-to-date knowledge of library systems and software.  Ideally you will have a recognised library qualification, or be working towards it.  Matamata-Piako Libraries are Kōtui/APNK libraries, so prior use of these systems is an advantage.  The ability to adapt, and collaborate across the library teams and with other council teams is essential.

The skills and enthusiasm to lead your team into the exciting future of public library services is a must as we are continuously looking to improve and develop.  For example, we are working towards strengthening our knowledge and capabilities in Mātauranga Māori and using co-design to inform future services and programmes.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5.30, with one rostered Saturday 8.45 to 1.45 every four weeks. Team Leaders also work a rostered day at Matamata or Morrinsville Library every fortnight.
