About this role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Librarian to contribute to a small specialist Library team. The Library Business Partner is one of three Library Business Partners in the Library team. This role focuses on keeping the library working: with circulation, serials management, acquisitions, cataloguing, and some content management on our website. It involves developing new ways to improve the library systems and processes with our customers in mind. It also includes communicating with our external and internal key stakeholders and liaising with education agencies.

You’ll be involved in many daily aspects of the library work from technical to trouble-shooting and problem-solving. You’ll learn on-the-job, and come up to speed quickly with our systems. You’ll help produce statistics for the library. Your communication skills will help us provide our customers with better services and access to the information they need.

You need a postgraduate qualification in library or information management or related discipline, and five years experience in a role with a customer focus. Current RLIANZA registration an advantage.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • special library experience with circulation, acquisitions, serials, and cataloguing
  • experience using a library management system to an expert level, preferably Koha
  • experience adding content to a library website CMS, preferably Drupal
  • experience using EBSCO admin, EDS, and OCLC
  • the ability to learn on the job
  • competent using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • the ability to liaise closely and effectively with vendors and support services
  • experience collaborating with key stakeholders
  • a strong customer focus and high-quality customer service
  • excellent written and verbal communication
  • the ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
