Library Assistant-Customer Services

Part-Time | 20 hours rostered Thursday-Saturday

Maybe it’s the commute, or should we say, lack of (no traffic lights here).

It’s like getting a double shot of coffee in the morning when you live here and when you work with Masterton District Council (MDC) to create and support the great space that is called Masterton. Here at MDC we are looking for Library Assistant – Customer Service.

The role includes, but is not limited to:

The role will be responsible for providing a range of services across the customer services team within the Library. This includes the delivery of services at Library service points and undertaking the operational activities necessary to provide access to the Library’s collections and spaces.

  • Providing high quality customer service.
  • Circulation, shelving, displays, helping customers to choose items, and providing computer assistance. These tasks require attention to detail and the ability to perform manual and repetitive tasks while remaining cheerful and willing to assist others.
  • Assisting with a range of collection management and administrative activities.
  • Participating in special projects and programmes to meet the needs of the community.

The key skills and experiences we are looking for include:

  • Previous library experience preferred.
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and staff courteously and effectively and maintain strict confidentiality.
