Library Assistant

Would you like to be part of a friendly team at Hauraki District Council’s libraries?

We are looking for a positive and customer-focused person who can work 12 hours per week plus Saturdays on a rostered basis. You may also be required for additional hours to cover for when staff are on leave.

While prior library experience is desirable, what is essential is a passion for libraries and connecting people with reading and information. Ideally, you will have excellent customer service skills and enjoy dealing with a diverse range of people. You will also have the ability to assist customers with technical queries including web searching so computer skills are important for the changing demands of a librarian role.

This is a great opportunity for a true library all-rounder. As part of a small, close-knit team, you will get a chance to contribute to all aspects of the library service, with a focus on front-line service delivery.
