The position is based in the Central Library in Upper Hutt City. The Central Library is a major hub of the community and along with the Pinehaven branch and two Outreach services vehicles, provides library and community services and programmes to the citizens of Upper Hutt. Upper Hutt Libraries seeks to engage, inspire and inform people and plays a significant role in the development of our strong local community.
The primary function of the Libraries Manager role is to strategically lead the provision of quality public library services to the Upper Hutt community through the effective and efficient management and leadership of staff, facilities, programmes and resources.
The successful appointee must demonstrate exceptional core management and leadership skills, such as people and resource management, communication skills, budgetary control, problem solving and critical thinking skills. They will participate in appropriate external Library working groups and networks to ensure that through innovative forward thinking Upper Hutt Libraries continues to set a benchmark for public library services in New Zealand.
Further the successful appointee must demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate a skilled team to meet high level objectives and have the ability to coach, mentor, guide and effectively supervise staff honestly, directly, and consistently to achieve new levels of excellence.
