What you will do
The Base Library is responsible for the provision of library services to the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) and the wider Naval Community. It also provides both an intranet and internet connection facility.
In this role you will be accountable to the Base Commander through the Naval Community Organisation Manager for the management, maintenance and provision of a recreational and professional collection of books, periodicals and audio visual materials. This collection is designed and selected to meet the needs of the RNZN personnel and the wider Naval Community.
What we need
We are seeking a person with proven experience in managing a Library collection (including books, periodicals, audio visual and vertical files) ensuring everything is receipted, catalogued, processed, stored and maintained in accordance with best practice and Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa library guidelines. You will have experience of researching and purchasing new stock according to allocated annual budgets and have relevant experience in sharing resources and networking between Libraries.
In terms of administration you are an excellent planner with very good organisation and time management skills. You have a good foundation of general administration skills, experience in the financial management of a purchasing budget and a good level of proficiency with the MS Office suite of programmes. SAP knowledge would be an advantage. Providing excellent customer service is important to you and you value the relationships you build and maintain through this. Being a sole charge role we are seeking a person who is self-managing, proactive and able to take responsibility for decisions made.

- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
