Information Services Librarian – Hamilton Campus

Te Whare Pukapuka, Library
Hamilton Campus (30 hours per week)

Ko wai mātou? – Who are we?

The University Library consists of three Libraries across two campuses. We aim to provide relevant, engaging physical and virtual spaces and resources to support students throughout their learning journey at the University of Waikato.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

The Information Services Team has staff based at both campuses. We are seeking two part time librarians to work Monday to Friday in our Tauranga Campus (20 hours per week) and our Hamilton Campus (30 hours per week). These roles are interesting and diverse requiring collaboration, consultation and communication second to none. You will be helping students, both in person and online, to find resources and learn about research skills and academic referencing. You’ll also work closely with academic staff to develop relevant library support and plan and teach library classes. These diverse roles could see you helping a student demystify the rules of APA through to teaching in front of a lecture theatre full of students. The role may also include marketing the library, i.e. via social media.

Ko wai koe? – Who are you?

You have a University Degree and a formal qualification in Librarianship (or be working towards this). You will be motivated and enjoy working both independently and as part of a small team. You enjoy a challenge and are not afraid of change. You can juggle competing demands and manage your time well. You must be confident with technology, in particular instant messaging, be prepared to think creatively and willing to teach in front of large groups. An interest or experience in marketing, including social media, would be an advantage. Most importantly, a love of learning new things will flow in your veins!

He aha ngā take me tono mai ai koe? – Why should you apply for this position?

The University provides a unique and satisfying work environment with many benefits to our staff including generous superannuation, options to study and leave and flexible working provisions.

The salary range for these positions is $60,193 to $72,445 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.
