An opportunity for LIANZA members to visit Oamaru – Saturday 24th February

The programme:

11am – meet at the Oamaru Public Library where Philip van Zijl and Debbie Price-Ewen will host us. We will hear & see all the changes that took place there earlier this year, and how the Library is engaged with the various groups that make up the community of North Otago.

Chris Meech, Waitaki District Archivist will then be taking us on a tour of the adjoining Archive.

Lunch is proposed for 1.30pm at one of the local cafes of your choosing, after which you can have free time to enjoy some of the attractions of Oamaru.

We can organise car pooling, so we reduce our combined carbon footprint driving to Oamaru and back on the day. The proposal is to meet in Anzac Avenue – across from the Hocken Library, and leave from there by 9.30am at the latest. The regional committee have agreed it makes sense to share the transport ($20 per person to driver). Some people may want to stay overnight in Oamaru and attend the Sunday morning market.  There is some parking available behind the Library (first come first served) or in the Council car park.

So, please do consider joining in with this event.

Please RSVP by 5pm Wednesday 22nd February to Mark Hughes (mark.hughes@otago.ac.nz

Please advise Mark whether you require a ride or can offer seats in your vehicle.
