The National Library of New Zealand sits within the Te Haumi (Enterprise Partnerships) branch of the Department of Internal Affairs. Our branch is the Department’s centre of information management, culture, and heritage. The National Library collects, stores, preserves and gives access to taonga that are precious to New Zealand. 

This role leads the team which has responsibility for building the National Library’s published collections through Legal Deposit. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrated success in leading a high performing team, including managing technical specialists
  • Enjoys motivating people and fosters an environment of curiosity and innovation 
  • Has experience with collecting and archiving born-digital material and is keenly interested in the opportunities and challenges for Legal Deposit in the 21st century
  • Has demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Library and wider GLAM sector 
  • Has at least five years’ post-qualification experience, including substantial experience with collection development and management practices

Qualifications:

  • A degree and postgraduate library qualification; OR
  • A degree and professional registration with a relevant body
