Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About the role

The prime purpose of the Assistant Librarian – Access is to facilitate access and promotion of Library information and collection resources that support and enhance teaching, learning and research for staff and students at Ara, train and develop cultural competency among the team.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – Skills/Experience 

  • Professional Library or Information Management qualification
  • Experience working in a tertiary library.
  • Experience in Customer Service.
  • Experience in cataloguing/metadata management.
  • An understanding of the principles of Information services and sources for information retrieval.
  • Experience in acquisitions and interloans of Library materials.
  • An understanding of the principles and practices of collection development.
  • Computing and web-based skills and familiarity with current design and AV applications.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
