The University Library consists of three Libraries across two campuses. We aim to provide relevant, engaging physical and virtual spaces and resources to support students throughout their learning journey at the University of Waikato.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

The Academic Liaison Librarian is based in a small team at the Hamilton campus and will work closely with Waikato Management School. This is a role that focuses on providing expert, discipline-based guidance to postgraduate students and academic staff and is diverse and varied. One day you might be holding a one-on-one online consultation with a doctoral student in Pakistan, and teaching a research workshop face-to-face or online, the next you might be working with a researcher on their research profile or discussing aspects of scholarly communication with them. The role will involve establishing effective relationships with academic staff and students and developing an in-depth knowledge of curriculum and research interests.

Ko wai koe? – Who are you?

You will be confident and motivated, work autonomously and independently. You will also have a university degree and a formal qualification in Librarianship (or be working towards this). You will need to be an excellent communicator, able to use technology effectively, manage your time and competing demands, and will enjoy engaging with academic staff and students and working both independently and within a team.

$60,193 to $72,445 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.

This is a fixed-term role to be worked Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week for a period of 11 months.
