The National Library in Christchurch has a vacancy for a “Kōtui Application Specialist” to work with their Kōtui and Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa (APNK) team.  The National Library sits within the Information and Knowledge Services (IKS) branch, of the Department’ of Internal Affairs.  The IKS branch is the epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. The branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand. 

Kōtui is a consortium of New Zealand public libraries managed by the National Library of NZ.  The libraries that subscribe to the consortium, share a library management system (LMS).  The LMS is Symphony a product from Sirsi Dynix.  The Kōtui and Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa (APNK) team support the consortia with system maintenance, upgrades, enhancements and training.  The team provide  7  day service desk coverage to libraries.  The discovery layer used by Kōtui is Enterpise from  SirsiDynix.

When a new library joins the consortium, the Kōtui Application Specialist is involved with training the library staff and building their confidence with the new software and procedures.

This role requires some out-of-normal business hours to be worked for software upgrades etc, regular on call work and some national travel.

You will be joining a team of 8 colleagues who are dedicated and enthusiastic to continue the work of Kōtui and APNK.

The successful applicant will require knowledge of library management systems from both user and technical support perspectives.  Experience with Symphony from SirsiDynix would be an advantage.  Knowledge of library discovery systems and familiarity with navigating Windows server and basic Linux command lines is preferred.
