ABOUT LIANZA

OUR HISTORY

Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1939, LIANZA supports the library and information sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. We want all New Zealanders to have equitable access to world-class and innovative library services throughout their lives from school to university and from public to private sectors.

Over the years, LIANZA has been involved with the creation of the Country Library Service and was a driving force in the National Library Service. With our support, the LIANZA Children’s Book Awards and library and information qualifications were established for New Zealand.
